Lesson Seven

The Will of God

In summary, the Lord Jesus Christ Laid Down a Principle that Should Govern all Our Life, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33)

A.     First, seek God's kingdom and righteousness, fulfilling His will that is clearly revealed in the Scripture.
B.     Then, "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy path" (Proverbs 3:5-6; See also Psalms 37:1-5).

Key memory Verses

"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto god, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of god" (Romans 12:1-2).

"But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33).

"Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass" (Psalms 37:4-5).

"trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Additional Thoughts

There is much confusion today about the will of God. Some popular beliefs are:

1.     The will of God is different for every individual.
2.     The will of God has to do with specific, physical matters.

From the Bible principles taught in this lesson, you should understand that these teachings are false, and why.
